Forward:
Today there are times we need bridges in our lives to help us 'cross over'. God knew this from the beginning and offered His Son as the Bridge to life everlasting. Let me very loosely paraphrase verses from the fourteenth chapter of John.
"Jesus told his disciples 'don’t worry about how you get from here to there. I am the bridge that will take you across. Trust me for My Father chose me as the bridge to get you to a special place on the other side. I am going over there soon to be sure that it is ready for you. When it's your time to cross, I will come back and lead you across my bridge so we can be on the other side together. Those of you who think there are other crossings need to know this truth…."I am the only bridge that takes you to the Father. No one can get to Him unless you cross with me on my bridge".
The Cumby men were the kind of leaders that every owner desires on his dream-team. I was blessed because years ago my dad chose Jay Cumby and his sons, and together we all became Bridge Builders. Any person who has driven across Texas has surely crossed bridges that one member of their family helped build. The Cumby name will always remain a part of bridge building in Texas.
